The original Lowlands website suffered from high cognitive load and confusing navigation. Ambiguous icons, internal jargon, and misleading visual depth caused user frustration and increased drop-off rates during the artist discovery process.

Optimizing Navigation Clarity
The previous interface hid essential features behind ambiguous internal jargon. By replacing vague icons with explicit text labels, the redesigned homescreen offers immediate clarity and a vastly improved, intuitive navigation experience.
Reducing Friction in Search and Filtering
The original filter icons caused significant user confusion because visual interpretations varied widely. This ambiguity increased search times and led to higher drop-off rates. The redesigned interface solves this by replacing vague icons with explicit text labels arranged in a logical sequence. Additionally, a dedicated search bar was introduced to help users find specific artists instantly, creating a much smoother browsing experience.
Removing Misleading Affordances
The original 3D background created false affordances, misleading users into believing they could click through stacked pages. This caused unnecessary confusion and hesitation during navigation. The redesign eliminates this misleading effect while introducing a new background illustration. This approach successfully maintains the playful depth expected of a festival website without compromising usability.
